Outdoor fuchsia: current height 10–20 cm

Common name: Outdoor fuchsia
Scientific name: Fuchsia magellanica
Family: Onagraceae

Plant history & use

’Tricolor’ is a particularly decorative variety of outdoor fuchsia with variegated leaves in green, white, and pink, which together with the hanging red-violet flowers create a striking appearance throughout the summer. Like other varieties of Fuchsia magellanica, it is hardy, perennial, and survives the winter in large parts of Sweden – something unusual for fuchsias.

The small, elongated berries that may follow the flowering are edible and have a mild, tangy taste. In its native countries, the plant has traditionally been used in simple herbal preparations, among other things for digestion.

A natural black dye can be extracted from the wood.

Resistant to wind and salt – suitable as a hedge in coastal environments

Cultivation

Thrives in sun to partial shade in nutrient-rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil. ’Tricolor’ works excellently as a standalone shrub, border plant, or low hedge. Very resistant to wind and salt, making it especially suitable as a protective hedge in coastal areas. Overwinters outdoors in zones 1–2, also in zone 3 in sheltered locations. The shoots often freeze back, but the shrub sprouts from the base in spring – prune then to encourage new growth.

Characteristics

Perennial: Perennial
Light conditions: Sun to partial shade
Height: 0.6–1 meter
Hardiness zone: 1–2 (3 in sheltered location)
Flowering: June–October

Frodas Fertilizer in 500 g package

Frodas is a 100% natural, slow-acting nutrient supplement made from insect shells and biological material, often called “frass.” It acts as a biostimulant, meaning it not only supplies nutrients but also promotes the plant’s own immune system and the soil’s living organisms.

Frodas naturally contains chitin from insect shells, a substance that activates the plants’ defense system. The chitin stimulates the production of enzymes and signaling substances that strengthen the plant’s resistance to pests and diseases, while also benefiting helpful microorganisms in the soil.

The supplement is rich in both major nutrients (NPK 3‑3‑2: nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) and trace elements (including iron, zinc, copper, and manganese), which results in stronger plants with fuller foliage, improved flowering, and more robust root systems.

Frodas Fertilizer is odorless, approved for organic cultivation, and can be used year-round – both in pots, planting boxes, and in the garden. It helps plants withstand stress from cold, drought, and pests.

Dosage:
- Sprinkle 1 tablespoon per pot (1–1.5 l) or 1 deciliter per container of 10 l.
- Or 0.5–1 deciliter per 10 l soil in planting beds.
- Work lightly into the surface and water after application.
- Use 1–2 times per month throughout the growing season.

The leaves are used in traditional Chinese medicine. The tree is valued for its beautiful lobed leaves and strong autumn colours.

It is the last living species in its order: Ginkgoales, which first appeared over 290 million years ago.

The tree closely resembles the ancient trees it descends from. Its closest relatives today are cycads and conifers.

The tree was cultivated early in human history and is still widely planted. It is considered a living fossil. The trees are very long-lived, some specimens are estimated to be around 1500 years old.

Both seeds and leaves are edible. Ginkgo leaves have long been regarded for their noted positive effect on mental functions, such as memory and focus.

The seeds are used both ground in Asian rice porridges (congee), and roasted and salted to be eaten as a healthy snack with other dishes and drinks.

Cultivation

Thrives in sun to partial shade in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. The taste is reminiscent of asparagus.

All parts of the Goan bean plant have a high protein content. The mature seeds (dry beans) contain 40%, the tubers 20% - which is higher than many root vegetables - and the leaves and flowers contain 10-15%.

The goba bean is currently a relatively unknown crop but is continuously increasing in commercial use.

The cowpea is an effective ground cover and a good weed suppressor. If you plant the cowpea without anything to climb on, it will instead spread at ground level and make it difficult for weeds to get up.

The goba also fixes nitrogen to the soil via rhizobacteria and can help rebuild nutrient-poor soils.

The goji bean can also be given as feed to ruminants, poultry and fish.

Cultivation :

The Goan bean is a perennial plant with a climbing habit (similar to the Long bean ). Winter cover the base with straw or similar when growing outdoors.

It is best to start growing as early in the year as possible, as the Goan bean needs a long growing season to produce beans in the same year. This is most likely due to the fact that it is a perennial bean variety, perennials usually grow slower than annuals as they are "programmed" to grow continuously for several years (- rather than quickly as annuals have to do to have time to reproduce during their short lifespan).

Would like something to climb on, e.g. house wall, larger tree, pillar, sticks or tied wire.

Thrives in well-drained soils.
SEEDS (20 pcs/bag)

Common names: Greek Mountain Tea, Mursalski Tea, Ironwort, Shepherd's Tea, Greek Mountain Tea, Mursalski Trigradski Tea
Scientific name: Sideritis scardica
Family: Lamiaceae

Plant history & use:

Greek Mountain Tea, also known as Mursalski Tea, has a fascinating history in traditional medicine and culture in the Balkan region. The plant originates from the area below Mursalitsa Mountain in the Rhodope Mountains, Bulgaria. For a long time, this aromatic herb has been used by the people of the Rhodope Mountains for its medicinal properties and to add flavor to various drinks. Shepherds have for centuries drunk the tea to keep warm and alert during their journeys. The plant's popularity has spread beyond its native lands thanks to its unique qualities and benefits.

Among the most valuable qualities of Greek Mountain Tea is its medicinal value. It has traditionally been used to ease digestive troubles and has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce swelling and pain. Its aromatic leaves are used to make tea and drinks that provide a refreshing and spicy taste experience.

Most of the genus Ironworts (Sideritis) are called "Mountain Tea," many of which are specifically called Greek Mountain Tea, although not all varieties originate from Greece. As described above, these seeds come from the unique variety that grows just below Mursalitsa Mountain in Bulgaria and has been drunk by the Rhodope people for centuries.

The tea has different taste and effect depending on where it has grown—even if it is the same species. This is partly due to soil and altitude. Teas from Sideritis scardica can thus be distinguished and for example called "Olympus Mountain Tea" if grown on Mt. Olympus in Greece, "Titan Mountain Tea" if grown on Mt. Othrys (Titan Mountain), and "Mursalski Mountain Tea" if grown on Mt. Mursalitsa.

Cultivation:

Greek Mountain Tea thrives best in sunny locations and well-drained soil. This perennial herb loves warmth and is very drought-resistant once established. For best results, the plant should be overwintered frost-free. However, it can survive outdoors in favorable locations in zones 1-2.

To obtain the highest possible content of bioactive compounds in the leaves, harvesting early in the morning is recommended.

Sowing:

Sow the seeds in moist seed soil and cover only with a thin layer of soil.
