Goji berry / Boxthorn (Lycium barbarum)

SEEDS (30 pcs/bag) Common name: Goji, Boxthorn Scientific name: Lycium barbarum Family: Nightshade family Plant history & use: Goji berries are one of the most popular "superfoods" (a term for food with especially high nutritional value) and are often used in muesli, smoothies, salads, and bread or simply eaten as they are. The reason for their popularity is likely because the goji berry is one of the most nutrient-dense berries available. It is rich in vitamins and minerals as well as omega-3 and antioxidants. The goji berry also has a particularly high protein content of 10g per 100g, which is very unusual among fruits and berries. The taste is sweet with hints of cranberry and cherry. Usually, the berries are dried before use. The red goji berry is richer in carotenoids than the <a href="https://tradgardsdags.nu/products/svart-goji-lycium-ruthenicum" title="Black Goji (Lycium ruthenicum)" style="color: #4e991d;" target="_blank">black goji berry</a>, while the black one is richer in antioxidants. The root is used in herbal medicine for, among other things, its liver-cleansing properties. The leaves are used in Asia in stews and soups or made into tea. Cultivation: Goji grows wild in Asia and has, since being introduced to Sweden, also begun to spread naturally here. The plant is a deciduous shrub that usually grows 80-200 cm tall. The plant is very easy to care for and hardy against both salt and wind. It thrives well in both sun and partial shade; this is a plant that adapts well! Sowing: The seeds are sown indoors from January to March in moist seed soil or outdoors in pots or in open ground from May to September. The optimal germination temperature is around 20-25 ºC. It can take 3-4 months for the plants to be ready for planting out, so it is recommended to sow early in the year. Then you have good chances to harvest already the same year. Characteristics: Lifespan: Perennial Light conditions: sun/partial shade Height: up to 3 meters (often around 2m) Germination time: 10-30 days Hardiness zone: 1-4

Gotu Kola / Pennywort (Centella asiatica)

40 SEK

SEEDS (30 pcs/bag) Common names: Gotu Kola, Indian Pennywort, Brahmi herb, and others… Scientific name: Centella asiatica / Hydrocotyl asiatica Family: Apiaceae Plant history & use: Gotu Kola is a well-known medicinal plant originating from Asia. It has long been used to ease, among other things, stress and anxiety. It is also commonly used against skin ailments such as eczema, wounds, and acne as it improves the skin’s elasticity. Gotu Kola is an adaptogen and, like <a title="Ashwagandha seeds" href="https://tradgardsdags.nu/collections/froavdelning/products/ashwagandha-indisk-ginseng-withania-somnifera" target="_blank">Ashwagandha </a>, it is one of the few plants with a very broad range of uses in traditional medicine. There are many scientific articles available for those interested in learning more in depth. For purely medicinal purposes, extracts are made from the plant. But its health-promoting properties can also be used in food and drink. For example, in Burma, a salad is often made with “Pennywort” as the base together with tomato, onion, peanuts, and more. The leaves are also brewed into tea or made into a cooling drink by pressing the fresh leaves. There are two different varieties of Gotu Kola: One has whole, round leaves and is better suited to grow directly in water – but it also grows well in soil. This type spreads horizontally with the help of underground (or underwater) rhizomes that are somewhat thicker than the leaf stalk. The other variety has a small gap in its leaf shape right where the leaf stalk meets the leaf – this variety spreads with the help of long, narrow above-ground runners similar to strawberries. Judging by its similar growth habit, it is easy to understand that Gotu Kola is also a good ground cover. Both varieties contain the same active substances, but it is the latter variety that is most often used in the production of dietary supplements and so on. As seen in the pictures, our seeds come from the latter variety. Cultivation: In its natural environment, Gotu Kola is often found growing in water, in moist soils, and along roadsides and hedgerows. It is an easy-to-grow and hardy plant that thrives best in moisture-retaining soil in partly shaded locations. It is advantageous to let it grow in loose soil with plenty of organic material as it requires moisture-retaining properties while excess water easily drains off or down into a tray. Gotu Kola can also grow in drier soils. The Gotu Kola plant spreads quickly, so if grown in a pot, a wide pot is preferable. This plant usually does not grow taller than 30 cm but tends to spread horizontally up to about 1 meter. For this reason, it is an effective ground cover in mixed planting with other crops. Sowing: Place seeds in an airtight plastic bag with moist sand/peat/seed soil in the fridge for 3 weeks. Then sow in moist seed soil. Cover with a thin layer of soil. Keep the sowing moist. Characteristics: Lifespan: Perennial Light: partial shade/sun Height: 30 cm (width 1 m) Germination time: 2-8 weeks USDA zone 7-10 Plant zone: approximate translation 1-3

Greek Mountain Tea / Mursalski Tea (Sideritis scardica)

40 SEK

SEEDS (20 pcs/bag) Common names: Greek Mountain Tea, Mursalski Tea, Ironwort, Shepherd's Tea, Greek Mountain Tea, <meta charset="utf-8">Mursalski Trigradski Tea Scientific name: Sideritis scardica Family: Lamiaceae Plant history & use: Greek Mountain Tea, also known as Mursalski Tea, has a fascinating history in traditional medicine and culture in the Balkan region. The plant originates from the area below Mursalitsa Mountain in the Rhodope Mountains, Bulgaria. For a long time, this aromatic herb has been used by the people of the Rhodope Mountains for its medicinal properties and to add flavor to various drinks. Shepherds have for centuries drunk the tea to keep warm and alert during their journeys. The plant's popularity has spread beyond its native lands thanks to its unique qualities and benefits. Among the most valuable qualities of Greek Mountain Tea is its medicinal value. It has traditionally been used to ease digestive troubles and has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce swelling and pain. Its aromatic leaves are used to make tea and drinks that provide a refreshing and spicy taste experience. Most of the genus <meta charset="utf-8">Ironworts (Sideritis) are called "Mountain Tea," many of which are specifically called Greek Mountain Tea, although not all varieties originate from Greece. As described above, these seeds come from the unique variety that grows just below Mursalitsa Mountain in Bulgaria and has been drunk by the Rhodope people for centuries. The tea has different taste and effect depending on where it has grown—even if it is the same species. This is partly due to soil and altitude. Teas from Sideritis scardica can thus be distinguished and for example called "Olympus Mountain Tea" if grown on Mt. Olympus in Greece, "Titan Mountain Tea" if grown on Mt. Othrys (Titan Mountain), and "Mursalski Mountain Tea" if grown on Mt. Mursalitsa. Cultivation: Greek Mountain Tea thrives best in sunny locations and well-drained soil. This perennial herb loves warmth and is very drought-resistant once established. For best results, the plant should be overwintered frost-free. However, it can survive outdoors in favorable locations in zones 1-2. To obtain the highest possible content of bioactive compounds in the leaves, harvesting early in the morning is recommended. Sowing: Sow the seeds in moist seed soil and cover only with a thin layer of soil. Cover the sowing with plastic equipped with small air holes. Keep the sowing moist. Germination usually occurs within 10 days. Green Shiso / Leaf mint (Perilla frutescens)

40 SEK

SEEDS (30pcs/bag) Common Names : Green Shiso, Leaf Mint, Chinese Mint, Veripeippi, Sesame Sauvage, Schwarznessel, Wilder Sesam, Beefsteak Plant, Shiso Zoku, Bai Su Zi Scientific name : Perilla frutescens Family : Lamiaceae Plant history & use : Shiso, or Spearmint as the herb is called in Swedish, originates from the Far East: Korea, Japan, China, etc. Its natural habitat is from the Himalayas to eastern Asia where it often grows wild in moist, open woodland. Both seeds, leaves and young shoots/plants are used as a spice. The taste may be considered unfamiliar to Western palates at first, some people detect cinnamon, others coriander or citrus. Shoots or young plants are added to salads, while older leaves are often used as a garnish or seasoning. However, the uses of Shiso are wide-ranging. Larger leaves can be used to wrap bulgogi , a Korean beef dish. Leaves from purple-colored Shiso varieties are used in Japan to color and flavor pickles: e.g. ginger and plum. Older leaves can also be salted and used to flavor tofu and as a garnish for tempura . Since the leaves have a "curry-like" flavor, they are an ingredient in many soups and stews. It is also common to make dishes with steamed Shiso leaves, e.g. Perilla Leaf Kimchi . The leaves can also be dried for later use. Unopened flower buds are used as a garnish for soups and other dishes, eaten fresh in salads, pickled (like <a href="https://tradgardsdags.nu/products/kapris-capparis-spinosa" title="Caper seeds (Capparis spinosa)" style="color: #4e991d;" rel="noopener" target="_blank">capers</a> ) or stir-fried with other vegetables . The seeds can be sprinkled over salads and dishes. They are one of the ingredients in the well-known spice mixtures 'Shichimi' and 'Seven Spice'. Energy bars are also made with Shiso seeds. It is the seeds from the <a rel="noopener" style="color: #4e991d;" title="Seeds for Red Shiso / Spearmint (Perilla frutescens var. crispa)" href="https://tradgardsdags.nu/products/rod-shiso-bladmynta-perilla-frutescens" target="_blank">red-colored Shiso varieties</a> that are preferred for culinary use. U From the seeds, you can also extract so-called perilla oil , which is used in industrial contexts - for example, in perfumery and dental care products, as well as in the paper and paint industries. However, the oil is also used for culinary purposes as a flavoring for sweets and various sauces. From the seeds, you can also extract an oil that is effectively used to treat wood, similar to linseed oil. The seeds contain approximately 21.5% protein, 43.4% fat, 11.3% carbohydrate, 4.4% minerals of various kinds. The seeds of Shison are also rich in linolenic acid (ALA). Shiso is a valued medicinal plant in oriental medicine, where it is described as a pungent, aromatic and warming herb. Both the leaves, stems and seeds are used . The leaves are used in the treatment of colds, respiratory infections, vomiting, abdominal pain, etc. (Yeung. Him-Che.). The seeds are antiasthmatic, cough suppressant, emollient and expectorant. The juice from the leaves is applied to cuts and wounds (Manandhar. NP). Extracts from the plant are used internally in the treatment of asthma, colds and chills, nausea, abdominal pain, food poisoning and allergic reactions (especially those from shellfish), bronchitis and constipation (Duke. JA and Ayensu. ES). The stems are a traditional Chinese remedy for morning sickness (Bown. D.). Extracts of the herb have recently begun to be used in the Western world, against certain allergies and as an alternative to antibiotics and cortisone. In the last 20 years or so, there has been interest in the herb's effect on asthma (Almark L. & Flising L. - Swedish Herbal Society). Cultivation : Does best in a light, moisture-retaining soil in a sunny location. Shison is not frost-resistant so it needs to be overwintered frost-free if you want to grow it as a perennial. Otherwise, it is suitable for growing as an annual due to its high growth rate. Easy to grow, like most other plants in the Lamiaceae family: <a style="color: #4e991d;" href="https://tradgardsdags.nu/search?q=Lamiaceae" title="Search results for Lamiaceae - Garden day" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Greek Mountain Tea, Holy Basil, Tree Basil, Thai Basil, Lemon Basil</a> . <a href="https://tradgardsdags.nu/pages/vaxtzoner-svenska-usda-europa" title="Growing zones - Swedish zones & USDA zones in Sweden and the rest of the world" rel="noopener" target="_blank">USDA zone</a> is stated to be 7-10. The approximate translation from USDA zone 7-8 to our Swedish system is growing zone 1-2. However, since the systems are not measured in the same way, they are not directly translatable. Experiments can be done at your own risk, there is a chance that the roots of the plants can overwinter in the mildest parts of the country, even if the above-ground part freezes during the winter. Sowing : Pre-cultivate indoors, or sow outdoors in late spring when the soil is warm. The seeds are light-germinating - therefore cover the seeds with an extremely thin layer of soil or do not cover at all. Keep the seeds moist.<meta charset="utf-8"> One way to maintain good humidity is to cover the seed with plastic with air holes. Optimal germination temperature is 18-25 °C. Guava 'Ki Nok' (Psidium guajava)

SEEDS (20 pcs/bag) <div class="page" title="Page 2" data-mce-fragment="1"> <div class="section" data-mce-fragment="1"> <div class="layoutArea" data-mce-fragment="1"> <div class="column" data-mce-fragment="1"> Common name: Guava, Guajava, Guayava, Yellow Guava Scientific name: Psidium guajava Family: Myrtle family Plant history & use: <meta charset="utf-8">Guava is a tropical fruit tree originally from Central and South America. The 'Ki Nok' variety is one that has arisen in Southeast Asia with abundant production of smaller fruits, about 6-7 cm in diameter. The fruit's outer skin changes from green to yellow when ripe, as does the flesh. The fruits can also be eaten when green and then have a crisper texture – in Asia, the green fruits are sliced into wedges and dipped in a mixture of sugar, salt, and chili – surprisingly tasty. The fascinating thing about the guava fruit is that it has two different "layers" with different flavors. The outer layer (including the skin and about a centimeter inside) tastes slightly "piney," while the innermost layer tastes tropical and sweet. The flavor can be described as a mix between pear, mango & strawberry for those who have not tasted guava before. The outer layer, including the taste, decreases in thickness as the fruit ripens. The tree can grow up to 10 meters tall. Guava is a rich source of vitamin C and other antioxidants. The fruits are usually eaten fresh or used to make juice, jam, and jelly. A gray-black dye is extracted from the leaves, which is used for natural dyeing of, among other things, silk. The bark of a guava tree has a smooth, spotted appearance, where parts of the bark peel off at different times and places. This creates a beautiful pattern and contributes to a highly decorative look in cultivation. <meta charset="utf-8">Another beautiful feature of the guava tree is its flowers, which are large, white, and fragrant. These flowers attract both insects and birds, which can help bring life to the garden. <div title="Page 2" class="page" data-mce-fragment="1"> <div class="section" data-mce-fragment="1"> <div class="layoutArea" data-mce-fragment="1"> <div class="column" data-mce-fragment="1"> Cultivation: Guava is a hardy and easy-to-grow plant that can be cultivated in a wide range of soils. However, it prefers well-drained, sandy soil with a pH level between 6 and 7. Guava thrives best in a warm climate with high temperatures and high humidity but can also tolerate lower temperatures down to the frost limit. Growing in a greenhouse is therefore preferable, or alternatively frost-free overwintering. The plant location is important for guava; the tree thrives best in full sun or partial shade. But it is important to ensure the tree does not get too much direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day, as this can cause damage to leaves and fruit. Guava is a drought-tolerant plant and can withstand long periods without water. But for the best fruit production, the soil should be kept moist and fertilized regularly with a balanced fertilizer. It is also important to prune the tree regularly to control its size and to promote fruit production. The harvest period varies depending on the growing conditions, but guava trees are usually ready for harvest 2-3 years after planting. However, it can take up to five years for some trees to start producing fruit. The fruit-bearing period is between June and October. Sowing: Guava seeds are best started in pots. </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="column" data-mce-fragment="1"> Place the seeds on moist sowing soil and cover them with a thin layer of soil. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into larger pots or into the ground in a greenhouse. It is important to ensure the seedlings do not dry out during the first growth period, but at the same time avoid overwatering as this can cause rot and kill the seedlings. The guava tree is known to be a hardy plant, but it is important to care well for the sowing to achieve effective germination. Golden Himalayan Raspberry (Rubus ellipticus)

50 SEK

SEEDS (30pcs/bag) Common names: Golden Himalayan Raspberry, Golden Evergreen Raspberry, Yellow Himalayan Raspberry, Ainselu Scientific name: Rubus ellipticus Family: Rosaceae Plant history & use: The Golden Himalayan Raspberry originates from the Himalayan mountain range in Tibet and Nepal, but also grows wild at high altitudes in more southern latitudes such as Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia. The berries have a sweet flavor with a pleasant level of acidity. Nepalese farmers grow and harvest Golden Himalayan Raspberries and then ferment the berries to produce a local fruit wine. The berries have historically been used both as food and for medicinal purposes. Scientific studies have revealed a wealth of macronutrients, micronutrients and various minerals in the berry ( <a rel="noopener" title="Yellow Himalayan Raspberry (Rubus ellipticus Sm.): Ethnomedicinal, Nutraceutical, and Pharmacological Aspects" href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10458938/" style="color: #000000; text-decoration: underline;" target="_blank">Lamichhane A, Lamichhane G et al.</a> ). Furthermore, the Golden Himalayan Raspberry has been shown to be rich in other beneficial substances, including polyphenols, flavonoids, anthocyanins, tannins and terpenoids. In local communities where raspberries grow wild, consumption of the berries is still practiced as in the past. The berries are sold in local markets in the Himalayan region (Manandhar. NP). The inner bark is valued as a medicinal herb in traditional Tibetan medicine. In forest horticulture, the plant is traditionally grown in living fences in the northwestern Himalayas, where it helps to keep out livestock and other animals; mark land boundaries; while providing a range of medicinal and edible uses (Pankaj Sharma & Usha Devi). The plant is also useful in preventing soil erosion and for other soil conservation purposes (Manandhar. NP). This species is also used in raspberry breeding programs, where it is crossed with certain varieties to impart its resistance to diseases and to improve its adaptability to warmer climates (Janick, J. & JN Moore). From the berries, you can (surprisingly) extract a blue-purple dye that can be used in natural dyeing (Grae. I.). Culture: The Golden Himalayan Raspberry is said to be an evergreen shrub in its natural environment - possibly even in the mildest parts of our country. The shrub produces a cluster of stout, thorny, upright stems from a woody rootstock. The shrub usually grows 1-3 m tall, sometimes up to 4.5 m. Easy to grow plant that thrives best in well-drained clay soil. Good hardiness to freezing temperatures, exact hardiness is difficult to find due to its rarity in commercial cultivation, but cases of hardiness down to -20ºC have been reported ( <a style="color: #000000;" rel="noopener" title="Variability in Vegetative Characters and Yield Attributes of Raspberry (Rubus spp.) in Uttarakhand Himalayas" href="https://doi.org/10.1080/15538362.2013.817774" target="_blank">AK Trivedi</a> ) More shade tolerant than many other species in the Raspberry genus (Rubus sp.). However, the best location for maximum fruit set is a sunny location. Annual harvest from wild specimens in the Himalayas is about 750 g from a bush occupying an area of 2.5 m² (Parmar. C. and Kaushal. MK). The shrub is self-fertile and pollinated by insects. New stems are produced each year from the perennial rootstock, these stems set fruit in their second year and then die off to be replaced by last year's fruit-bearing stems the following year. Root tubers collected from plants in Java showed nitrogen-fixing activity and can be assumed to fix their own nitrogen like most plants in the Fabaceae family (MJ Van Steeniis-Kruseman). Sowing: NOTE: These seeds have been stratified (cold period) and can therefore be sown immediately after receipt. Sow the seeds in moist soil. Cover with a thin layer (about 1 cm) of soil. Keep the seeds moist. Here you will find super comfortable shoe models designed specifically for garden time as well as other models suitable for various occasions in the garden. After our own search for good garden shoes, we found the brand Rouchette, where we especially came to love their ankle boots made of natural rubber & insulated with neoprene for the comfort they provide.

The shoes are also designed with a practical outer sole that prevents soil from sticking and being brought into the home - the Frotte&Go system. This technique has been exclusively developed by Rouchette. Rouchette originally is a family business from France but thanks to their comfortable and practical shoes has spread to both South America and countries like South Korea in the east.

The shoes are made in Portugal and France.

It is no exaggeration to say these are the most comfortable and practical boots we have had - and our customers usually agree. You can feel it immediately when you put your foot in the shoe.

The ankle boots are also suitable for hunting or the stable.

You can use the filtering function below on the left to easily find the shoes you are looking for.

The sizes we do not have in stock can still be pre-ordered - this usually takes 2-3 extra weeks before we send the shoes to you. Shoes in stock are sent out continuously every week!
