The trees are easily self-fertile but 2 trees are recommended for good pollination. Common name: Asimina, Paw paw Scientific name: Asimina triloba Family: Annonaceae Growth history & use: Asimina is one of the most tropical-like fruits that can grow in our northern climate. The taste resembles a mix of banana and mango, and the texture is like papaya or a perfectly ripe avocado. The fruit looks like a small green mango with golden yellow flesh. The fruits are usually eaten as they are but can also be used to enrich refreshing drinks, baked goods, and cocktails with their mildly tropical flavor. The fruits are rich in vitamins such as riboflavins and B-6. They can also be used to make ice cream. Cultivation: Asimina originates from and grows naturally in North America, often as undergrowth beneath larger trees. They thrive in humus-rich, nutrient-rich, and somewhat moist well-drained soils. Slightly shorter than the wild varieties: grows to around 4-5 metres. Same good hardiness. General information about Mulberry: Mulberry trees are one of our oldest cultivated plants. The black mulberry tree, like the white variety, <a href="https://tradgardsdags.nu/products/vitt-mullbar-morus-alba" title="White mulberry (Morus alba)" target="_blank">Morus alba</a> , originates from West Asia - however, the black mulberry tree came to Europe a couple of hundred years before the white one. The first findings of knowledge about the black mulberry tree were already around 300 BC. It may be that Morus nigra originates somewhat further to the southwest (closer to Europe) in West Asia than its relative Morus alba, and that this is why Morus nigra also has a slightly worse hardiness in cold climates than its relative. Traditionally, the black mulberry was used to make wine and cosmetics - thanks to its high concentration of anthocyanins which give the berry its deep dark colour. However, the berries were also grown for fresh consumption. Unlike the white mulberry tree, which can vary in color, the black mulberry tree's fruits are always black when ripe. The flowers have a lovely apricot-like scent and are widely used as a flavouring for teas in China. The shrub also produces edible fruits that resemble olives both in shape and preparation method. The shrub is evergreen with dense, fine foliage and is well suited as a privacy hedge in sheltered locations. The scent of apricots often spreads far in the garden when the shrub is in bloom. These flowers are used not only to flavour so-called Osmanthus teas, but also to flavour desserts, baked goods, wines, other alcoholic drinks, and even dishes. An essential oil can also be obtained from the flowers. The fruits resemble olives and, just like olives, are prepared by being placed in brine. Surprisingly similar to pickled olives. Flowers are also added to various modern medicines to mask unpleasant tastes. In traditional medicine, the flowers are used, among other things, as a cough suppressant. Other parts of the plant have a range of health-giving properties that interested readers can explore further. This technique has been exclusively developed by Rouchette. Rouchette originally is a family business from France but thanks to their comfortable and practical shoes has spread to both South America and countries like South Korea in the east.
