Sorten ’Adpressa’ är en lågvuxen form med tätare, ljusare barr och långsammare tillväxt än artens standardform, vilket gör den intressant både som prydnadsträd och som ett udda inslag i samlarträdgårdar.</p> <p>Virket från sekvoja är rakfibrigt, kvistfritt, lätt, mjukt och mycket beständigt i kontakt med jord och fukt. Det räknas som ett högkvalitativt och lättbearbetat virke, traditionellt använt till snickerier, staketstolpar och olika typer av konstruktioner. Ett brunt färgämne kan utvinnas ur barken. Yngre skott från stammen har historiskt använts till korgflätning. Växten utvecklar också ett tjockt lager av mjuk och fibrös bark som kan skördas utan att skada trädet. Denna bark har använts som isolerings- och stoppningsmaterial, och det fina barkdamm som uppstår vid hantering fungerar som jordförbättringsmedel. Barkens fibrer kan även användas till papper: grenar från fällda träd skördas, barken skärs i lämpliga bitar och blötläggs i rent vatten innan den kokas med lut i minst sex timmar.
