It is a hardy Kiwi variety that can grow and produce good fruit outdoors in our climate. The fruits are small and hairless, and are eaten with the skin on, unlike the hairy kiwifruit we are used to buying in stores.</p> <p> The female variety of the variety 'Weiki' is a German variety that, like 'Jumbo', is known for its large fruits. The fruits are sweet and flavorful and resemble the common kiwi in taste. The variety is very hardy in our Nordic climate and has a compact growth habit, which makes it suitable for covering a surface - for example, a wall or trellis.</p> <p> The female plant 'Weiki' produces cherry-red fruits with firm flesh that have a good shelf life after harvest.</p> <p> The fruits ripen in September-October.</p> <p class="p1"><span class="s1">The fruits are a rich source of vitamin C (up to 5 times more than blackcurrants, for example) and can be eaten straight from the plant without peeling. The fruits can also be used to make jam.</span></p> <p class="p1"> <span class="s1">In Korea, young leaves are used in a vegetable dish called namul.</span></p> <p> <strong>Culture:</strong></p> <p class="p1"> <span class="s1">Mini kiwi 'Weiki' is a hardy variety that can withstand temperatures down to -25 <span class="s2">℃</span> .</span> It has a winding growth habit and<meta charset="utf-8"> can grow up to 3-4 meters high. The optimal growing location is in a greenhouse, against a wall or a trellis. The wood is appreciated thanks to its beautiful yellow-gold color, fine and uniform ring structure and the specific sound of the click of a stone (piece) against its surface.</span></p> <p data-mce-fragment="1"><span data-mce-fragment="1"><meta charset="utf-8">The tree is protected in Japan due to its scarcity due to previous over-harvesting. Only the ancient (200-800 years old) Japanese Torreya trees are considered suitable for making the thick Go boards - making them highly prized. Surprisingly, the indigenous people of small North Indian communities use the berry to make an ointment to prevent blindness in camels. This is possible thanks to the berry's high content of<span>&nbsp;</span><em>lutein</em> .</p> <p data-mce-fragment="1">The berry gets its deep blue-purple color from the anthocyanins, a substance found in unusually high concentrations in the black goji berry. Anthocyanins are the same substances that color blueberries blue and contribute to many of their beneficial properties.</p> <p data-mce-fragment="1">Ripe berries can be eaten raw, dried or cooked.</p> <p data-mce-fragment="1">The most common way to consume black goji berries is to make a so-called infusion on them.
