History & use
Amur grape is a very hardy grape species from eastern Asia. The species is named after the river that flows through Siberia and Manchuria. Winters in this region are much colder than those we experience here. The Amur grape is said to withstand temperatures below -40ºC. Amur grape is self-fertile.
Produces small, dark grapes with a fresh taste. The grapes are used for wine and juice. The grapes are said to yield a wine of good quality with hints of wild strawberry.
The pictures show real Amur grapes at a so-called farmers market in Champagne, France.
The foliage takes on a very decorative, deep red color in autumn.
